Some Shopping, Lunch Out, and a Nice Old Man (Weeknotes

This week’s update was tough to write because frankly there wasn’t that much to write about. There were a couple of new blog posts and a (very) short story that amuses me more than it should.

Here are the highlight from week of November 13 to November 19, 2023. This week’s update was tough to write because frankly there wasn’t that much to write about. There were a couple of new blog posts and a (very) short story that amuses me more than it should.

🐱 A few years ago I wrote a very short story about three little kittens who got lost and then found. I came across it this week and shared it here on my blog. I don't imagine very many people enjoyed it.
🫖 I posted a poll over on Mastodon, asking whether you have a kettle. 8 of 10 voters said yes, and that they use it regularly. Me too!
📃 After reading this post I decided to try to remove icon fonts from my website. I was successful after some mucking about with my style sheets. I learned a few new CSS things along the way too.
📤 I realized that I have a pretty good backlog of half-baked blog post ideas. I need to finish and publish at least some of them, so look for those soon.
📷 I finally updated the firmware in my X-T4 to version 2.01. Didn’t really take any photos this week though. What’s up with that?
🥪 A friend was in town this week so we met for lunch. I’ve been a remote worker for over 5½ years and going to lunch with other humans is something I miss. Even on days when I’m in the office it’s not the same. I think it’s because not being in the office makes people feel less like they need to get away from the office.
🚴‍♀️ I drifted into a bicycle shop this week, one I had not visited before. I met the manager and another fellow who works there—nice folks. I left with a new ventilated saddle for my bike. The only problem is that I’m not riding much these days since it’s pretty cold around here. I’m a fair weather cyclist.
🎁 I did a little bit of gift shopping this week, while the spousal unit was out of town. I still have more to do though! There’s still plenty of time, right?

👑 We started watching the final season of The Crown, which has now officially overstayed its welcome. We are gracious hosts so we’ll stick it out, but we’re just about done with this one.
🏴‍☠️ On recommendation from my eldest daughter I started watching the live action adaptation of One Piece over on Netflix. I wasn’t sure about it but I have to admit it made me smile at several points. I think I’ll keep going with it, but the spousal unit was not getting into it so I’ll have to do it in my own time.
