We Voted! (Weeknotes

Here’s what happened during the week of October 28 to November 3.

🗳️ We VOTED! A family affair. We waited in line for over an hour, but it was well worth it. It was my youngest daughter’s first time voting in a presidential election. Afterward we celebrated by taking an ussie and then going to our favorite local Mexican restaurant for dinner and margaritas.

🍸 Our youngest daughter shares a birthday with a close family friend and they both turned 21 this year so we celebrated by throwing them a little party. It was just a casual dinner at our place, followed by cake and the obligatory party time shot clocks. Good time had by all.

🖼️ I recently launched my own content delivery network and I’ve been gradually migrating images and other content to it. The big driver here is to move content hosting out of some.pics, which wasn’t really designed for that purpose, and Flickr, for which my subscription expires this December. I crossed a milestone this week when I finished migrating content for all posts and pages on my photography blog. Next up: migrating a handful of remaining Flickr albums.

I’m continuing to make progress on my 5k training program.

📷 A new lens arrived this week, and I’m very excited about it. I haven’t had a chance to take it for a test drive yet though. I hope to do that soon, and I’ll write about when I do.

🤣 Funny thing of the week:

LMFAO to everyone who saw Dan Quayle add an “e” to the word “potato” in 1992 and said, “This is too much stupid for us.”

Watching

🏛️ I found all 58 episodes of The Paper Chase on YouTube and watched the first episode. Forty six years on, the show hasn’t aged all that well but I remember liking the show (and disliking the film) so I’m going to try to hang on for few more episodes to see how it goes. And besides, John Houseman!

🐒 We finished watching season one of Bad Monkey. This show was fun at times but not exactly “prestige television.” Will I be back for season two? Probably.

🌻 The first episode of the new season of Somebody Somewhere didn’t wow me, but this is the last hurrah so I’m gonna stick it out. I know it’ll get better.

⚽️ The Crew ended their season at NY Red Bulls on Sunday. As we like to say in Cleveland, there’s always next year.

One More Thing

We ended the week by changing the clocks back to standard time. I understand all the arguments for and against daylight saving time, and that standard time puts solar noon at, you know, noon. But I don’t give a damn about any of that. I just hate that all my waking hours when I’m NOT working are spent in the damn dark.

That’s all from this end for now. We’ll see you next week in Albuquerque, New Mexico!
