Visiting Reno

🎰 My spousal unit and I have been thinking a lot about retirement lately, and a big part of that conversation centers around where we’d like to live. We agreed that it won’t be Ohio, and we’ve been scouting places around the country for the last year or so. We’re pretty certain that Tucson will be where we land for the winter months, but we’re still trying to figure out the rest of the year. Pretty sure it will be somewhere out west. We have some good friends who live in Reno so we took a long weekend trip to scout it out. Our friends were so great, they planned a full schedule for us that included visiting several new and established communities, eating at some great restaurants, and a visit to magnificent Lake Tahoe. They drove us everywhere for two days straight; our rental car sat in the parking garage all weekend! We were very impressed with the “Biggest Little City in the World” and we’re already planning our next visit.

App-tivity

💻 I installed the Arc browser on my iPad. It’s very unlike the browsing experience I’m used to (Firefox). I haven’t fully switched over, but I’m trying to use it more.

📷 I dropped $60 for the Halide Mark II camera app for iOS. I was impressed with the results of my first pics using Process Zero, but I’m still learning how to take full advantage of this camera.

👀 Clew is a new(ish?) search engine focusing on independent creators. It gives letter grades from A+ to F. My pages seem to be mostly As and Bs, but I’ve got some Fs too.

💨 Kerri Ann reminded us this week that the spirit of the Internet is alive and well. This makes me happy.

🔒 The weird key combination MacOS uses to lock the screen has always puzzled me, so I was happy that JK shared a solution to make it a little more intuitive!

From the Workplace

🙄 No lie, I heard exchange on a call today:

A. Will C be on the call?
B. No, C is out of the office today.
...
A. But will he join?

📦 I spent a few hours this week volunteering alongside a dozen or so of my coworkers at the Mid-Ohio Market. I unloaded and unpacked cases of shampoo, rice, pasta sauce, and baby formula that was then shelved for consumers to pick up in the market.

Sport

⚽️ I attended the Leagues Cup semifinal match at Lower.com Field here in Columbus. The Crew beat Philadelphia 3-1 and advanced to the final, which the Crew also won. (We weren’t able to attend the final though.)

Reading

🍷 I used the time spent flying across the country to get through a few more volumes of The Drops of God by Tadashi Agi.
