The Family is Back Together (Weeknotes

Here’s what happened during the week of July 22–28, 2024.
This chicken is giving me the stink eye. I guess he didn’t like having his picture taken.

🗽 My eldest daughter moved out of her university apartment and back home last weekend. We hardly noticed though because she turned right around and flew to New York City to spend the week visiting a friend who is housesitting an apartment near Washington Square.

🍔 She’s back now though and we took the opportunity to invite some friends and family over for a cookout to celebrate her graduation from university. We went through a lot of hamburgers and hot dogs. 🌭

🐄 We made our annual pilgrimage to the Ohio State Fair, where we indulged in some fair food, rode the sky glider, and looked at some of the entrants in the poultry competition. And of course the butter cow.

🧑‍💻 This was a better work week than I’ve had in a while and I’m starting to find my happy place again. Also enjoyed meeting a colleague outside the office for lunch, which is something I rarely do any more since I started working remotely some six years ago.

Watching

I stayed up very late Friday night watching the Olympics opening ceremony (on delayed replay) and drinking French wine. Opening ceremonies are always special events, and the Paris show did not disappoint. ❤️

👭👭👜👠🍸🗽 Started rewatching Sex and the City from the beginning. With our youngest daughter. A little weird, but she likes and we like it and she’s an adult so I guess it’s fine? Now that the Olympics have started though, I doubt there will be much TV time left for this over the next couple of weeks.

Blog Stuff

📛 I’ve been feeling for a long time now that my blog needed a more creative title than “Michael Burkhardt’s Weblog.” After Lou and Jedda added me to Blogroll Club I felt an added sense of urgency so I landed on “As Long As There’s Coffee” which was inspired by the new banner photo.

📛 My photography blog got a new moniker too. The new name, “Than No Photo,” comes from a bit of advice that try to keep in mind: “A bad photo is better than no photo.”

That’s all from this end. How are things in your world?
